The high court in Kerugoya has issued an order preventing deputy president-elect Kithure Kindiki from assuming office as deputy president. This comes after petitioners David Mathenge and Peter Kamotho filed a case in the court to oppose the process. Meanwhile, 32 other petitioners from the Mount Kenya region have also gone to court seeking to block the swearing-in of a new Deputy President.
