Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza has been given a lifeline after the high court extended orders blocking the senate's decision to impeach her until her petition is heard and determined. This means that Mwangaza will continue to serve as Meru Governor for a further 120 days or until a determination is made on the case. Justice Bahati Mwamuye said the results of vacating the orders would be consequential hence the ruling is in the public's interest.
