Sugarcane farmers have been urged to adopt new technologies in farming in order to maximize yields and cut down on the cost of production This clarion call was made at the sugar industry innovation expo in Kisumu, which entered its second day on Wednesday. The farmers were urged to embrace precision agriculture which includes the use of drones to map out suitable areas for growing specified varieties of cane. Kenya sugar board acting CEO Jude Chesire indicated that the government was keen on connecting farmers to the right innovators that will facilitate the transition from manual agriculture.
