Bei ya Kakao yaongezeka zaidi huku vita Cameroon ikiyumbisha upatikanaji wake
Mahitaji mbalimbali ya zao la kakao katika soko la dunia limepelekea bei ya zao hilo kubakia wakati wote juu, lakini hakuna kiasi cha kutosha ya zao hilo kuuzwa katika mkoa kusini magharibi wa Cameroon, ambalo awali lilikuwa ni bonde kuu la uzalishaji kakao katika taifa hilo.
Hii ni kutokana na vita vya silaha vilivyo yakumba maeneo ya Kaskazini magharibi na Kusini magharibi, mikoa miwili inayozungumza Kiingereza, tangu mwaka 2017, na kuwalazimisha wakulima kadhaa kuhamia maeneo mengine. Kama anavyorepoti Njodzeka Danhatu kutoka Buea, mkoa wa Kusini magharibi mwa Cameroon, baadhi ya wakulima wameanza hivi sasa kurejea katika maeneo yao.
Kilo moja ya kakao ambayo ilikuwa inauzwa kwa dola moja ya Marekani. Inauzwa kwa dola tisa za Marekani hivi leo, bei ya juu zaidi kuwahi kushuhudiwa katika taifa hilo la Afrika ya Kati. Serikali inawapa wakulima wa maeneo hayo ushauri juu ya namna ya kutumia fedha hizo zinazotokana na kakao kuondokana na umaskini.
