The artisanal and small-scale miners association of Kenya is raising the alarm over alleged exploitation of small miners and residents by brokers in West Pokot. In a meeting held in Kapenguria that brought together thousands of miners, Chairman Oketch Salah said the matter ought to be checked, even as he urged the miners to join cooperatives for better pay and financial assistance. They were further urged to conduct their operations within the set laws and procedures for their own safety and to avoid problems with the authorities.
