Busia Member of Parliament Catherine Omanyo has called on the government to undertake mass awareness campaigns targeting persons with disabilities to ensure widespread registration, for them to access government services and grants. Speaking at Apetit area in Busia County during an exercise to distributed over 100 wheelchairs to PWDS facing mobility challenges, Omanyo said many pwds are often isolated by their families who perceive them as burdens, thus denying them their fundamental rights. Residents lauded the move noting that it will empower PWDs to be economically empowered and be self reliant.
