The Malindi Environment and Land Court has stopped an ongoing construction of a highrise building at Casuarina Beach in Malindi town, Kilifi county. Justice Mwangi Njoroge certified an application by Rita Valentini who is suing Shadia Munini Fayrd, the county government of Kilifi, the National Environment Management Authority and the Attorney General for flouting construction rules of the area. Shadia was accused of placing a residential building of four floors, whilst the Kilifi County government and NEMA approved and issued a license for the construction without following due process.
