Douglas Kanja took office as Kenya's fifth Inspector General of Police under the 2010 constitution with a pledge to listen to the people. Kanja was installed as IG in a first of its kind ceremony held at State House Nairobi where the head of state asked the leadership of the National Police Service to respect the rule of law.
