    Kampala is growing fast, but the city’s infrastructure just can’t keep up — and one of the biggest problems is waste. Every day, Kampala produces about 2,000 tonnes of garbage, but there’s only one major dumpsite, Kiteezi, and it’s running out of space. Things came to a head in August 2024 when part of the dumpsite collapsed, killing more than 30 people. It was a tragic reminder of just how serious the issue has become. Is there a way out of this waste crisis?
