Scholars and development partners in the education sector are calling for amendment of relevant policies to make education affordable and accessible to a wider range of learners in the country. Speaking during an annual conference bringing together students, mentors, professionals and other stakeholders at Karen Contemplative Retreat Centre in Nairobi county, Kenya Education Fund, Executive Director Dominic Muasya said there is a need to cushion learners from dropping out of school. Other speakers at the forum noted that high fees levied by some institutions have disadvantaged a section of students from poor families from accessing tertiary and higher education, especially in Arid and Semi-Arid regions. So far Kenya Education Fund has sponsored 4600 students in various institutions across the country.
