The country’s education story appears to be taking a new trajectory 39 years after the initiation of the 8-4-4 system. For the first time in the history of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exams, more girls sat for the exam last year compared to boys. Meanwhile, male candidates maintained an edge in performance with 127,853 qualifying for university entry by scoring a C+ and above compared to 118,537 female candidates.
