Homa Bay County Assembly Speaker Julias Gaya resigns amid impeachment threat

MCAs were informed that he vacated office through a letter sent to the office of the Assembly Clerk. Mr Gaya was last month summoned by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), alongside former acting clerk Anne Ager, amid an ongoing investigation at the county assembly.

In the summons, EACC said it was looking into allegations of unethical conduct of public officers.

Mr Gaya was required to provide the original letter he used when applying for the post of County Assembly Speaker. He was also required to provide a copy of the advertisement for the job. 

On her part, Ms Ager was required to provide her personal file as Acting Clerk. EACC also asked to see her appointment letter and the minutes of the County Assembly Service Boarding that appointed her to the job.
