Many families in the area have been severely affected, with some struggling to carry out daily activities.In Arembe village, the family of Mathews Akumu has battled jiggers for the past three years facing immense hardship due to jigger infestations. The non-governmental organization took the lead in treating Akumu’s family and ensuring a full recovery. Health officials in the region emphasize the importance of community involvement in maintaining hygiene and sanitation to prevent future outbreaks. They encourage society to support affected families and reduce the stigma surrounding jigger infestations.
