Kenya is facing a climate induced catastrophe due to rising pollution and desertification. According to the first environment statistics by the Kenya national bureau of statistics only 19 percent of Kenyan land is classified as protected in 2023 from a high of 35 percent in 1980. The report further says Kenya is likely to face a major water problem by 2050 due to over extraction of ground water in Nairobi, Kiambu and Nakuru Counties. Jael Opicho has more details.
