Human rights groups in Kenya led by Amnesty International Kenya have staged demonstrations in Nairobi in solidarity with veteran opposition politician Dr Kizza Besigye, who is facing treason charges. Their bid to submit a petition at the Uganda High Commission was thwarted by police officers who denied them entry into the building. However, a similar petition was earlier in the day submitted to the national assembly.
