Kenyan traders in Tanzania reassured after licensing dispute

Kenyan businesses operating in Tanzania have been assured of uninterrupted operations following bilateral talks between Nairobi and Dodoma, easing fears sparked by a recent licensing order that threatened cross-border commerce. The reassurance comes after Tanzania’s publication of the Business Licensing (Prohibition of Business Activities for Non-Citizens) Order, 2025, which was issued in July and raised concerns about potential restrictions on foreign-owned enterprises.
