Kitui governor Dr. Julius Malombe has launched the liquor licensing and control board, in a bid to ensure that licensing of liquor joints and sale of alcoholic drinks is regulated. According to the governor, the board is essential to the county’s welfare, as substance abuse has cut short the talents of many youths. While commissioning the board, Governor Malombe called on its members to carry out their duties with integrity and to strictly observe both county regulations and national laws. The board, which includes seven representatives from each of the eight sub-counties, has been tasked to ensure that alcohol vendors operate lawfully and do not contribute to drug and substance abuse
