Tension is high at Kona Mbaya in Matunda along the Kitale-Eldoret highway, following the death of a man under unclear circumstances. The deceased, identified as Sydney died on Sunday after allegedly being attacked at his home by Simon Siashipira, a Nyumba Kumi committee member. Protests by area residents over the murder however turned tragic, as two young ladies were allegedly shot dead by police officers. The officers had responded to the incident that saw the house of the Nyumba Kumi member torched. The residents have called on relevant authorities to ensure those involved in the deaths are brought to book.
