Chief Justice Martha Koome is calling on the Maasai community to embrace alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in settling land cases that are rampant in the region. Koome spoke Monday when she opened the Kilgoris Environment and Land Court. She termed alternative dispute resolutions as a key solution to problems facing local communities. Elders were urged to be in the frontline arbitrating cases using their wisdom and knowledge of what is happening in the society.
