Hundreds of residents of Mombasa turned up for this year's walk for freedom to create awareness against human trafficking, modern slavery and sexual exploitation. Speaking after the walk participants say an estimated 30,000 people from Mombasa, Kilifi and Kwale are said to be trafficked out, a majority being women and children who are exploited for forced labour and sexual trafficking. Edward Munene from international Christian center has called on the government and tourism stakeholders to partner and address the rampant cases of human trafficking in coast region.
