Motorists could soon be required to pay an additional ksh 7 per liter of super petrol and diesel following a proposal to increase the road maintenance levy from sh 18 to 25 per liter of petroleum products. However transport cabinet secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has urged Kenyans not to do away with the proposal but instead come up with ways of increasing the road levy without affecting fuel prices. Murkomen further added that the sector has 156 billion shillings in pending bills following collapsed projects, insisting that the budget is also not enough to maintain Kenyan roads.
