The National Assembly Committee on Lands has decried what it terms as delayed compensation of Kenyan households displaced by government-undertaken projects such as construction of roads and other strategic infrastructure. In a meeting with the National Land Commission during a review of the 2025 Budget Policy Statement the Committee led by North Mugirango Member Parliament Joash Nyamoko said some of the affected individuals have since died without receiving their compensation, while many households had been plunged into poverty. National Lands Commission Chairperson Gershom Otachi said compensations were pending due to unavailability of funds.
