Over 500 homes in Mwihoko, within Ruiru Constituency, are facing the threat of eviction after a private developer claimed ownership of the land. The residents, who say they legally purchased the plots with some having lived there for over the last 30 years from a long-standing landowner with no prior disputes, are now being asked to pay up to two million Kenyan shillings each or vacate.
