A sting operation by a multi-agency team led by the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) today led to the recovery of an assortment of drugs and illicit liquor next to a primary school in Siaya town. The operation, led by NACADA’s deputy director for corporate communication, Simon Mwangi, saw one suspect arrested and a notorious drug and illicit alcohol ring that has been operating at Mahinga Village, Nyandiwa Sublocation dismantled. Addressing the media at the Siaya police station, Mwangi said the operation was conducted following a public outcry and expressed shock that the drug moguls had established a base just across the fence from Awelo primary school.
