Police officers in Kitengela, Kajiado County, have this morning disarmed youths armed with crude weapons masquerading as security to protect a bar along Namanga road. The more than 30 youths armed with clubs and brand-new machetes maintained that they had been hired to protect the entertainment joint against looters. The lounge director Ezekiel Mbugua said the action was informed by an alleged reluctance by police to respond to their distress call last Tuesday during the chaotic anti-taxation protests.
