Parents drawn from the Kuria Community in Migori County have been urged to take an active responsibility in educating girls on the detrimental effects of Female Genital Mutilation as a way of eradicating the harmful practice. Speaking during a meeting with a section of parents in Miritini, advocates against FGM said when FGM education is conducted at the family level and spread across the community, will help curb the vice. The lobby group disclosed that in the past few years over 2000 FGM cases have been reported in the region.
