Deputy governor of kakamega county, Ayub savula has urged security agencies to arrest gangsters behind a spate of killings in Butere. Speaking during a security meeting in the area, Savula threatened to mobilize residents to lynch suspected thugs if police fail to end the killings. Several residents have been killed and others maimed by the gang in the past two months.
