The government plans to pump 12 billion shillings in the next six years to bail out the Technical University of Kenya retirement benefits scheme. Education CS Migos Ogamba says this will kick start operations at the scheme to begin paying pensions to retirees starting this July. Legislators however faulted the decision to spread the bailout over six years saying it would be punitive to the retirees. This comes amid a plan by the government not to renew contracts of staff at the Institution as part of its reform plan.
