A section of Kenyans engaged riot police in a running battle at the Nairobi central business district Tuesday to oppose the finance bill 2024 which they termed as punitive and draconian. Plans by the protesters to access parliament were however thwarted by the police who were deployed on all major streets leading to parliament. But unlike other past anti-government protests, conspicuously missing were the faces of politicians. And as Timothy Kipnusu reports two police officers were injured, one seriously, after a teargas canister exploded in one of the police officer’s hands.
