The Registrar of Political Parties, Ann Nderitu, has urged the National Assembly to amend election laws to ensure all counties have representation for persons with disabilities. Speaking at the launch of a new regional office in Kitale to serve Trans Nzoia, West Pokot, Turkana, and Samburu counties, Nderitu raised concern that 21 counties currently lack any representative with a disability. She also noted that gender balance remains a challenge, with women still underrepresented both in political party membership and in elective positions. Nderitu called on political parties to prioritize inclusivity in their nomination processes to promote equal participation for women, youth, and persons with disabilities.
