The government has been challenged to allocate more funds for research and innovation in a bid to fast-track industrialization in the country. Researchers say the current allocation of just above two percent of the country's budget towards research and innovation is insufficient.Led by former Principal Secretary for Economic Planning Peter Mangiti, they said the meagre budget has has hampered innovation and subsequently affected the achievment of sustainable development goals. The researchers who met at an international conference themed ‘Leveraging Research, Technology and Innovation in the New Economy for Sustainable Development’ at the St Paul University in Kiambu County, were also challenged to simplify their research findings for easy consumption.
