Security was tight at the 61st Independence Day event at Uhuru Park in Nairobi. All entry points were heavily guarded by uniformed and plainclothes officers with sniffer dogs on patrol. Kenyans who attended the event were thoroughly screened before entering the venue. Our reporter Timothy Kipnusu paints a picture of the security measures in place during the celebrations.
