Stakeholders join hands in Diani Beach clean-up to protect marine life

    As the country is emerging from the festive period a financial institution has partnered with other stakeholders to ramp up efforts in sea turtle conservation in Diani Beach through beach clean-up.

    Speaking during the beach clean-up exercise which resulted in the removal of 172 kilograms of plastics and 47 kilograms of glass waste from the Diani beach ,SBM Bank Kenya Coast Regional Manager, Anthony Muchoki, emphasized the importance of maintaining clean beaches in a bid to protect the marine ecosystems urging beachgoers to adopt sustainable practices including avoiding single-use plastics. At the same time Diani Turtle Watch Manager Dempsy Mai noted that plastics in the ocean are not only harmful because turtles ingest them, but they also disrupt nesting activities jeopardizing the survival of this endangered
