The Kenya National Union of Teachers, KNUT, has threatened to down its tools and cripple the re-opening of schools in the third term if its 2021-2025 collective bargaining agreement is not fulfilled to the letter. This follows a 10 billion shillings reduction to the Teachers Service Commission in the revised budget cuts by the treasury. And as Seth Olale reports, the budgets for the office of the first lady and that of the spouse of the deputy president have been withheld, amid reports that the budgets for the two offices have been reinstated.
