Waziri Mkuu wa Haiti kujiuzulu litapoundwa baraza la mpito
Waziri Mkuu wa Haiti Ariel Henry, amesema atajiuzulu baada ya kuundwa kwa baraza la mpito la uongozi ingawa wakuu wa magenge ya uhalifu wanasisitza juu ya kuhusishwa kwenye mipango yoyote ya kuunda serikali ya mpito.
Henry alikubali kujiuzulu Jumatatu wakati wa mkutano wa dharura wa Jumuia ya Mataifa ya Caribbean nchini Jamaica, ambako Waziri wa Mambo ya Nje wa Marekani aliahidi msaada wa ziada wa zaidi ya dola milioni 100 kuwezesha kupelekwa kikosi cha kimataifa nchini humo.
Akizungumza kutokea Pueto Rico, Waziri Mkuu Ariel Henry amesema kufuatia mkutano wa mawaziri wa Jumuia ya Mataifa ya Caribbean CARICOM, ameamua kujiuzulu akisema Haiti inahitaji amani, utulivu na maendeleo.
Henry “Serikali ninayoiongoza itaondoka mara tu baada ya kuundwa kwa baraza la utawala. Itaendelea kufanya kazi za siku hadi siku hadi pale waziri mkuu na serikali mpya itakapoteuliwa.”
Uamuzi wa kujiuzulu kwa Henry ulitangazwa na Rais Mohamed Irfaan Ali wa Guyana, Rais wa sasa wa CARICOM, baada ya mazungumzo ya faragha ya saa kadhaa ya mawaziri wa mambo ya nje wa jumuiya hiyo yaliyohudhuriwa na Waziri wa Mambo ya Nje wa Marekani Antony Blinken.
Akizungumza kwenye mkutano huo wa Jamaica Blinken amesema kutokana na ghasia za magenge ya uhalifu kupata nguvu inadhihirisha umuhimu mkubwa wa kupelekwa kwa kikosi cha kimataifa.
Blinken amesema “kutokana na hali ya dharura inayojitokeza ninatangaza hii leo kwamba Wizara ya Ulinzi ya Marekani inaongeza maradufu msaada wake kwa kikosi hicho kutoka dola milioni 100 kufikia dola milioni 200, na hivyo kwa ujumla inafikisha msaada wa Marekani kuwa milioni 300 kwa ajili ya juhudi hiyo.
Zaidi ya hapo ninatangaza msaada wa dharura wa dola milioni 33 kusaidia huduma za afya na chakula za Haiti.”
Hata hivyo haifahamiki bado jinsi utawala wa mpito utakavyo undwa na wachambuzi wanasema haikowazi iwapo mipango hiyo ya kimataifa itaweza kutekelezwa kwani wakuu ya magenge ya uhalifu wanataka kuhusishwa kwenye utaratibu kamili.
Kiongozi wa magenge hayo Jimmy Cherizer anayejulikana kama “Barbacue” akizungumza na waandishi habari mjini Port au Prince amesema wanaitaka Jumuiya ya Kimataifa kuwapatia Wahaiti nafasi ya kujiamulia mustakbali wao.
Cherizer ‘Barbacue’ anaeleza “tunacho omba ni kuchaguliwa mtu atakaye ongoza nchi anayeishi pamoja na sisi na uamuzi kufanywa na wananchi wa Haiti. Tunataka mawaziri wote watoke katika jamii ya wahaiti.”
Haiti hivi sasa iko katika hali ya dharura tangu Machi 3 na Barbecue amewaonya wamiliki wa hoteli kuu zote kuhakikisha hawapapi hifadhi mawaziri wa serikali na kwamba watavamia hoteli moja hadi nyingine kuhakikisha jambo hilo halifanyiki. - Reuters, AFP
