Access to food is a significant challenge for young mothers living in the informal settlements of Nakuru County, hindering their ability to maintain proper nutrition for exclusive breastfeeding. with teen pregnancy rates in the county at 17%, many of these mothers struggle to provide for themselves and their infants. Christine Kihara, the coordinator of nutritional services in Nakuru county, suggests that adopting kitchen gardening in these regions could help mothers meet the nutritional needs required for breastfeeding. This recommendation comes during World Breastfeeding Week, celebrated under the theme "closing the gap:
