230 Kenyan police officers return home from Haiti after 18 months

The government has lauded Kenyan police officers who served in the troubled Caribbean nation of Haiti under the Multinational Security Support Mission, saying they exceeded expectations despite early criticism and widespread misinformation surrounding the deployment. The officers, who are back after completing their tour of duty, were part of the first Kenyan contingent deployed to Haiti in June 2024. Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, who had breakfast with the officers in Embakassi’s Administration Police Training College, commended them for maintaining discipline, professionalism, and upholding human rights standards while operating under challenging conditions.
