The Independent Medico Legal Unit IMLU has raised concerns over what it terms as an unprecedented escalation of human rights violations in the country. In its 2025 report on human rights violations, the organization has warned that the country is sliding toward authoritarianism, marked by unchecked use of force and shrinking civic freedoms. IMLU is now calling for the strengthening of independent institutions such as IPOA to avert the trend.
