Security companies in the country have been urged to adhere to labour laws on minimum wage and to provide better working conditions for security guards.
Speaking to KNA in Kakamega, the Kakamega branch secretary of the Kenya Private Security Workers’ Union, Francis Madegwa, noted that some security companies are underpaying security guards and subjecting them to harsh working environments.
He said security companies need to ensure that security guards get days off duty, time for lunch and are also allowed to go on leave.
