Thousands of families in Kilifi face hunger after prolonged drought

Thousands of families in parts of Kilifi County are staring at a possible hunger after a prolonged drought in the region, that has left many without food and water. Constituencies such as Ganze, Magarini and Kaloleni have been hardest hit, with water pans completely dried up, forcing residents to trek long distances in search of water. The Kenya Red Cross has stepped in to distribute relief food to 187 families, though local leaders warn the assistance falls far short of the growing need.
