Hundreds of Kenyans throng JKIA Thursday morning to receive Raila’s remains

As the first rays of dawn broke over Nairobi’s skyline Thursday, a heavy silence hung in the air around Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. The plan for ferrying the body of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga touched down at the airport a few minutes after 9.30am. His remains were ferried aboard KQ 203, christened RAO 001 on entering the Kenyan airspace. Outside the Presidential Pavilion, thousands of mourners had gathered their chants and tears marking the beginning of a historic farewell of a man considered the father of democracy.
