Efforts to restore the Kirisia Forest in Samburu County have gained momentum after members of the Community Forest Association (CFA) announced plans to collaborate with the national government in planting more tree seedlings. According to the Association Chairperson Douglas Leboiyare, the group aims to plant 2,000 seedlings next year in areas of the forest that were previously destroyed.
He said the initiative is part of a long-term plan to rehabilitate the forest and ensure sustainable conservation. Members emphasized that the Kirisia Forest is public property and must be protected at all costs urging charcoal producers and herders to cease activities that degrade the forest.
