The University Academic Staff Union (UASU) has given the government a 15-day ultimatum from today, January 1st, to pay December salaries along with all arrears from September. This follows the government's repeated promises, including a letter from Ministry of Education PS Beatrice Inyangala, to implement the salary increments of the 2021-2025 collective bargaining agreement (cba). If the payments aren’t made, UASU threatens to strike again on January 15th. Willy Lusige reports on the lecturers' struggle.
