The National government, in collaboration with a Non-Governmental Organisation has launched an initiative aimed at restoring Gwassi Hill in Homa Bay County after a devastating landslide in April last year. Suba Central Sub County Commissioner Beatrice Odira who spearheaded the initiative said over 600 trees were planted and nursery beds for seedlings established and plans are underway to build gabions to control soil erosion.
