Religious leaders are calling on the government to settle the over 2.5 billion shillings owed to faith-based hospitals across the Country through the defunct National Health Insurance Health Fund. According to the religious leaders, the situation has worsened with the transition to the Social Health Authority. Archbishop of Nyeri Anthony Muheria says the government has failed to clear debts accumulated over the last four years, leaving hospitals in financial distress. The archbishop warned that the debts were crippling healthcare services. He spoke in Mombasa during the launch of the 2025 National Lantern campaign.
