The Judicial Service Commission in the meantime has rubbished the summons by the Commission on Administrative Justice terming it unlawful and unwarranted. In a statement this evening, JSC accuses the Ombudsman of resorting to threats and intimidation instead of engaging in constructive dialogue. In the statement signed by the Secretary to the Commission Winfridah Mokaya, the Martha Koome-led Commission says CAJ has no legal authority to summon, oversee, or direct an independent constitutional Commission asserting that it will not honour the summons. JSC has hinted at going to court to not only challenge the summons but to also stop the CAJ from further encroachment on its constitutional authority.
