The 17 mountain bongos that were safely repatriated from the USA seem to have adapted to the new environment. The repatriated bongos were donated to the government of Kenya by the Rare Species Conservatory Foundation in Florida, USA, following decades of dedicated research and breeding since 1991. Meru bongo and rhino conservation trust chairman John Kinoti said that the move aims to re-introduce and repopulate the species within the northern slopes of the Mt. Kenya Forest.
