A group of internally displaced persons from the 2007/2008 post-election violence are seeking justice over what they term as unequal government compensation. The Nyanza-Western IDPs Caucus has filed a petition at the Kisumu High Court claiming they were discriminated against during the Rudi Nyumbani resettlement programme.Through their lawyer, Moses Ombayo, the group argues that Under the Rudi Nyumbani initiative, IDPs in Nyanza and Western regions received only ten thousand shillings each, while victims in other parts of the country allegedly received up to four hundred thousand shillings. The case, mentioned before Justice Joe Omido, will return to court on January 29, 2026 as the petitioners seek equal compensation.
