Governor Wamatangi condemns Gatundu North MP over demolition of an ECDE centre in Mang’u

Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi has condemned the demolition of a newly constructed ECDE centre in Mang’u, Gatundu North, allegedly carried out by the office of the local MP. The Governor decried the demolition of St. Francis ECDE centre, terming it unfortunate that public resources invested in the project had been wasted through the reckless action of the Gatundu North MP’s office. He lamented that hooliganism and thuggery have increasingly become political tools in Kiambu, instead of leaders engaging in dialogue and reasoning together. Wamatangi emphasised that there was no justifiable reason to demolish the facility under the pretext of constructing another public project, urging leaders to embrace consultation and pursue amicable solutions for the benefit of the people. On Wednesday night, hired individuals descended on the new facility under the cover of darkness, vandalising it before completely flattening the buildings on Thursday morning as helpless residents watched.
