    In September 2024, a Dam in Maiduguri, North-East Nigeria collapsed following torrential rains. It caused severe flooding, killing at least 37 people and left nearly 2 million people homeless. The government promised to rebuild the dam and resettle the victims. One year after, with the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) predicting more heavier-than-usual rains and flooding across the country, the BBC returned to the city which has also been the epicentre of Boko Haram insurgency, to see how those affected are coping.
